After collaborating with various singers for several years, this is the first album that Jose Luis performed with Margarita Botello. Apparently, he had found an ideal partner to carry out his projects and this is reflected in Margarita's debut, which is definitely one of the best albums in the entire discography of the mexican multi-instrumentalist.
Sol Central is a trip full of imagination, sound experiments, counterpoint of voices and polyphony. The influences, came from different coordinates: we can find prehispanic concepts and instruments, Central Sun and Celestial Sciences are inspired by the relation between astronomy and architecture that was practiced by Aztec & Maya cultures, and the datura plant is still used by mexican shamans. However, Jose Luis does not abuse of this sounds, and keeps a good distance from the folk fusion, that is really common, (and sometimes over-used) in mexican prog. We can also trace the influence of R.I.O. groups as Art Bears or Thinking Plague, in the use of dissonances, sonic manipulation and some instruments such as the oboe or trumpet. The recordings of conversations, loops or sound effects to be combined with music, for moments, remind me of Pink Floyd's mid 70's albums.

But above all this, I think that the most remarkable fact about this album is all the attention and patience that it demands from you as listener. Theres a lot to explore in all this layers of sound, each time you listen to the record it's like going across a deep labyrinth of sound.
